(Fic) All my dreams end in fire

So while I was shopping in Tesco this evening, I wrote a Spike:Asylum drabble. (Wrote it in my head, that is; I didn't whip out a pen and paper in the frozen food aisle). The POV character is Beck - for those who've never heard of her before, *points to icon* (she's the one on the left) - the timescale is just before the events of 'Asylum'. Warning, this is not a happy and fluffy drabble. :)

All my dreams end in fire

When I was six, I killed my parents.

I still see them though, nearly every night. Mostly they're screaming. But sometimes they smile at me, and Mom opens her arms to hug me. But then her skin chars and her flesh melts and her bones turn to ash and it's me that’s screaming.

Loud enough to wake the dead, the others say, but they're wrong. The dead will never wake.

Now they say someone new is coming here. A ruthless, bloodthirsty killer of demons. They’re all scared for their lives.

Maybe he'll end my dreams.

One way. Or the other.

Yes, but most appropriate. And a very nice drabble.

Thanks!

Umm...Not sure I'd have used the word 'nice' personally, though... :)

Disturbing. But very cool.

Sometimes I worry myself. :) But thanks!

Methos-woad!

This is exactly how I see the character of Beck - very well done. (And I so would have whipped out a pen and paper in the frozen food aisle. *g*)

But I didn't have any paper with me... :) (And the checkout assistant might have looked oddly at me if the grocery boxes were covered in handwriting...)

Thanks!

That made me laugh

But I didn't have any paper with me...

What? You don't take a list to the grocery store? You are such a guy! :D

??
I generally have a look in the fridge before I set off to see if I'm running short of anything, then there's the regular stuff, then there's the impulse purchases if something looks appealing and there's room in the shopping trolley. Why would I need a list?

I couldn't function at the store without a list; invariably I forget some vital component for a particular recipe when I just hunt and gather. Then again, I may be a wee bit compulsive. ;D

Very nice. Very, very nice.

(Thanks for reminding me, I had to skim past when you first posted.)

Thanks! (I take it you've now recovered from your near-terminal squee attack the other day? :) )

The Doctor by cheesygirl

More or less...

Incidentally, do you watch Doctor Who?

Sort of but not really. I saw a few episodes of the new version and liked it, but not enough to religiously watch every episode. I have seen the whole first series (or 20-whateverth series) on DVD now, a few episodes from the second, and I've not watched the third at all yet.

I did think that the finale of series 1 where Rose looks into the heart of the TARDIS was remarkably reminiscent of Buffy in 'Primeval', if that helps? :)

Well I *did* watch every episode, but it's not until now that I've toppled over into obsession... (Which means that now I'll have to look out for re-runs and record everything. *grumbles* It's Buffy all over again...)

Oh totally. And The Gift and various others - Doctor Who has Buffy parallels all over the place, but is thankfully very much its own thing. The writing isn't as consistently good, but the continuity is *gorgeous*! Oh and RTD is even worse than Joss at pulling bizarre tricks out of nowhere to get to the emotional climax... but oh it's worth it!

And now I'll go away and stop waffling. I hope you enjoy the show.
