And we have the first jewellery-related hand injury. Yaaayyy!!! It just wouldn't be Middle-Earth without jewellery-related hand injuries.

I can only actually think of three examples of that. :)

Depending on what you mean by "jewellery-related", there are at least six:

Morgoth (above)

Beren

Maedhros (the fist time was only indirectly jewellery-related because of the Oath, but the second was directly caused by a jewel so that counts)

Maglor

Sauron (sort-of posthumously, but it probably counts because he wasn't really permanently dead)

Frodo

plus any others that I've forgotten.

Spoilers ahead:

[Spoiler (click to open)]I'm not sure Fingon's rescue of Maedhros should count, since that's not directly jewelry-related. But that still leaves:

-Morgoth's hands being burned by the Silmarils
-Beren's hand (with the Silmaril) being bitten off by Carcharoth
-Maedhros and Maglor being burned by the Silmarils after the War of Wrath
-Isildur cutting the One Ring off Sauron's finger
-Gollum biting off Frodo's finger at the end of LOTR

So that's at least five! *g*

To be fair, all the injuries are just caused by two specific [sets of] artefacts. :)

Meanwhile, in the basement of Angband, Sauron and Gothmog are playing their 172,174th game of rummy...

Not quite. You'll have to see next week's cartoons to find out what they're really up to. :)
