Just some random iconage:

And I would like to clarify for the record that this journal in no way condones or supports underage sex, necrophilia, slaying, smoking in public buildings, summoning or worshipping demons or the forces of darkness, sacrificing goats to Beelzebub, theft, assault, rape, flaying people alive, reanimating people after they have been flayed alive, setting fire to school gymnasia, eating high school principals, eating unbaked cookie dough, turning into giant snakes, using hyperdimensional physics to open portals except under the supervision of a certified quantum mechanic, engaging in sexual activity with members of different species, assassinating foreign heads of state or elected officials other than those currently attempting to become true demons (which probably excludes George W Bush, so he's safe for the moment), or any other form of black, naughty evil – except where permitted by law.
Okay?

Love the icon! I just mentioned that very thing last night to bubble_blunder! For our fandom, underaged sex is canon. It was shown on US network TV - a 16 + one day-year-old had sex with a 250-year-old creature of the night, and the experience was good enough for him to lose his soul. Snagging the icon, if you don't mind, and will cedit.

I had always assumed that the show had Buffy lose her virginity on her seventeenth birthday because 17 was the age of consent in California - then I found out it was 18 after all. Huh.

Help yourself to the icon...

Not that I agree with it necessarily, but the point lj_biz is trying ineptly to make is not that mere teen sex is out of bounds, but graphically lurid text descriptions of sex including teens. Personally I'd have no problem if they put the cut-off at 16 rather than 18. The more or less acknowledged age of getting busy in our culture seems to be 16--TV shows are full of 16 year old characters having sex. But it's not the having sex, it's the depicting it in great detail, that they say is against their TOS.

Sigh.

My interpretation is that it's only against the TOS if the writing makes a big, prurient point out of the fact that a character is underage.

"Angel gazed in awe at Buffy's slim, perfect body bathed in the moonlight" - perfectly OK (and would be even if I got much more explicit).
"Angel gazed in awe at Buffy's unripe, underage body bathed in the moonlight" - against the terms of service, or at least it would be if I'd got more explicit here. And frankly, I've got no problem at all with 6A banning the second type of fic.

For that matter, unless you're familiar enough with the source material to know that Buffy was supposed to be 17 in season 2 you probably wouldn't even realise she was underage in a given fic.

Let's hope so.

Good thing you included the unbaked cookie dough item. Most people would be horribly shocked by anything that condones that.

Salmonella is an evil [insert demonised minority group of choice here] plot to contaminate the purity of our bodily essences!

Hee

Hysterical icon.

Now I can't stop thinking that Dawn has been created in 2000 so she was seven years old when evil Joss made her lose her virginity...

Posted by: StephenT (stormwreath)
Posted at: 20th July 2007 20:16 (UTC)

No!!! The age of consent for immortal Keys is 18x10¹² years, and Dawn is at least 7x10³¹ years old, so she's perfectly legal...

I'm currently reading Bill Bryson's A Short History of Nearly Everything, and as far as I can tell, all certified quantum mechanics are certifiably insane.

However, your pro-goat anti-Beelzebub policy is despicable. Surely they have religious freedom where you live?

Run with the devil!
Shout Satan's might!
Deathtöngue! Deathtöngue!
The beast rises tonight!

I live in England. Animals have more rights than members of any religion here...

Yeah, but... GOATS. Who likes goats, seriously? Do they exist for any other reason except to be sacrificed? I know people used to eat them back in the day, but now that we have McDonald's, what other purpose do they serve, really?

(Maybe I'm just a little tipsy.)

Well, there was a recent case here of somebody having sex with one in his back garden... which backed onto a railway line, and a train full of commuters happened to stop at a signal right next to his garden. ;-) (He was prosecuted for animal cruelty - apparently the goat was 'distressed' by the experience. No, I don't know how they could tell).
