So, my story takes place in a yet to be determined modern American city, and basically the main character ends up with a cut starting at the corner of his mouth and going about 2 inches across his cheek. It's done with a box-cutter in unhygienic conditions, and it will be several hours before he can get treatment for it. (Maybe longer? I'm not sure if that would be plausible or not) Since the only medical care he has access to is a kind of shady mob doctor, it's going to scar up pretty nasty.

I've already found some resources on how to patch him back up, but I can't find any information about the healing process. How long will it be till he can do much talking? Would it be likely that he would have a slight speech impediment? Would he have to go on a liquid diet, and for how long? Also, how long would the stitches need to stay in for?
I've had some luck googling facial oral lacerations, and I've also tried searching for things related to Glasgow/Chelsea smile/grins.

Honestly guys, I did plan to make a proper post earlier this week and/or once the weather calmed down but guess what? RL happened and I got sidetracked... and now it's storms again! >:/

Okay, I lie.

I am still the same person who pretends to be asleep on Saturday mornings while her cat stands on her face demanding breakfast. I still check my email first thing in the morning. I'm still hugging soft toys because apparently I won't ever grow out of that. And I just managed to put my foot through my fitted sheet - thus meeting my klutzy quotient of the day.

About the only thing that's different is that I now have to adapt to put the "one" on the end whenever I'm asked my age. Wish me luck...

[Natter about Buffy's anniversary & background for fic]

So, Buffy's anniversary. I wanted to do something to mark it, but couldn't think of anything... Until I remembered this fic. I started it back in 2006 or 2007, and wrote 14 chapters (amounting to about 50,000 words) but never posted anything because this story (unlike pretty much all my other stuff) has A Proper Plot and A Story Arc and I didn't want to joss anything in the story by writing my self into a corner (seriously, it's long & complex). Plus those 14 chapters were only about half the fic (or a third...), and I didn't want to leave forever between updates. However, as you can see, I was so invested that I got ruuger to make me an icon, and kathyh even semi-beta'd the chapters. ♥


ANYWAY! In honour of the 10 year anniversary I thought 'Sod it, I love this fic, I'll start posting!' And then hopefully people will nag me into finishing it, because it's a properly EPIC story with world building and character development and PLOT and all kinds of things that people should appreciate. Of course fandom is now a fraction of what it was, but I'm hoping to lure in a few readers for old times' sake... Because I'm seriously proud of this fic. (My guarantee to you: it's better than the comics!) Figure I'll post a chapter every few weeks, and then hopefully be able to get started with writing again once I reach the end of what I've got...
