The history of Middle-Earth (chibi version): Part 73: Homeward bound

15th October 2013 (16:30)

Apologies for not posting yesterday; I don't currently have any extra of these saved up 'in the bank' as it were, so I'm having to do them one by one.

Ingwë's incongruous little speech is, as far as I know, the only recorded words he speaks in the whole of Tolkien's work, so I had to put it in. :)

It's also canon that Yavanna invented lembas. :)

Next time: Part 74: Dissension

I'm not sure what's supposed to be happening to Ingwë near the top right. It looks like someone's beaming him up to the Enterprise. (Now there would be a plot twist!)

He's staring in rapt amazement at the Two Trees. That's where the white light is coming from; and he's shown three times to show that he's oblivious to his surroundings until Finwë nudges him. On film, you'd show it by holding the camera on him unmoving for a long beat, or perhaps return to him several times to show he hasn't moved or changed expression from one beat to the next. In cartoons, I tried to represent that idea by repeating his picture multiple times.

OK, thanks for that explanation. (I'm more used to overlapping images representing rapid movement/change rather than standing still!)
