The History of Middle-earth (chibi version) - Part 93: Tirion on Túna

16th January 2014 (16:38)

'Cleaved' or 'clove'?

I think in some versions of the story the Elves actually had copies of both Telperion and Laurelin in Tirion, but only the White Tree got passed on to other people later. (And yes, if anyone 's reading these who's only seen the films, this is the ultimate origin of the White Tree of Minas Tirith, after several thousand years of intervening arboral generations.)

Next time: Part 94: Freezeframe.

There's an obscure passage in the HoME: "Finwë became the first of the Children of Ilúvatar to take delight in farts and belches and other crude emissions of the body; and Indis the first (and thus far only) woman to share in such delight."

Heh. You know, Finwë and Indis do have to share something in common for th estory to work...

(And originally I was going to arrange the chibis so Finwe was looking at Indis when he came out with that line; but then Míriel would have stabbed him with a knitting needle.)
