The History of Middle-earth (chibi version) - Part 129 - A beginning

29th May 2014 (11:45)

The conversation between the Valar here is a callback to the 'shipping discussion in #113. And I'd already drawn this cartoon before erimthar's comment on the last one using identical words about Finwë's smile, so that's a coincidence. :)

The Valinorean marriage ceremony has been adapted to suit the new circumstances regarding death, but it still has no need to include the "in sickness and in health" bit since nobody ever gets sick.

Part 129: A beginning

Next time: Part 130: A new family

Original story by and copyright to J R R Tolkien, ed. C Tolkien: Primarily based on the Silmarillion, but incorporating ideas from the 12-volume History of Middle Earth series.

NIENNA: "Seriously guys, I'm happy. I'm happy. Clap along, if that's what you wanna do..."

So Fëanor invented tin cans, apparently so he could kick one. Indis invented the Beatles, and went on to star as the ingenue in a number of "Carry On" films.

Fëanor invented everything else, so yes. How do you think the Noldor fed themselves when they were crossing the Helcaraxe?

There's an unconfirmed rumour that Indis was originally pencilled in as Stu Sutcliffe's replacement, but she had 'creative differences' with John and Paul and so left the group. She did do a brief tour with Marianne Faithful, but then dropped out of the music business.

Though recently, she was seen trying very hard to console Mick Jagger over the death of L'Wren Scott...

character dies

I have been silently stalking your lotr tag for this fic... series... comic... since someone linked to it in a post I made on fanficrants a couple weeks ago, and not commenting even though I read through it two and a half-times and repeatedly kept laughing aloud and catching myself saying things like "Poor fanboy Sauron!" (I'm really bad about enjoying things and then not commenting.)
But today, something else brought the day of the week to my attention, and I literally went "Oh! It's Thursday!" and IMMEDIATELY raced off to LJ to check for an update. And then I knew I had to tell you how much I absolutely love this thing. I keep intending to wait, so I have several to read at once, but I can never manage the self-restraint; it's too good.
(And Feanor's tin can made me flail in glee... but I do that 1.5 times per comic, so it's not exactly a surprise.)
I would like to go on about how Finwe's stuttering is adorable and Nienna is hilarious, but I think I'm starting to sound like a creepy fan, so I'll stop now.

Re:

Thank you! And don't worry; it's never offputting to find someone being enthusiastic about something you've created. :)

(Actually, it's good to find out what particular bits people enjoy most, for future reference. The same would also go for things people don't like or can't understand, of course - I do sometimes wonder if the in-jokes and call-backs will mean anything to anyone except me!)

Finwe, my friend. I think my sister likes you
Do you think so? Really?

Obviously Indis is being too subtle for Finwe to notice...

Exactly! It seems that only Míriel (and the Valar) ever even suspected that Indis might be harbouring feelings for Finwë in her heart...
