The History of Middle-earth (chibi version) - Part 137 - Seven brothers

30th June 2014 (18:03)

At least they don't have seven brides. That would double the number of new characters you have to keep track of!

Note that I've designed Fëanor's sons so they all have a silver 8-pointed star embroidered on the front of their shirt; that way you can tell their family allegiance even if you can't always remember which one is which.

As a reminder: at this point in history Elves have a father-name and a mother-name, given by the respective parent. Later on in the story (and as such an anachronism at this point) they also have a translation or adaptation of their name into Sindarin. Thus Curufinwë Fëanáro (fathername, mothername) becomes Fëanor in Sindarin; Nelyafinwë Maitimo becomes Maedhros in Sindarin.

I'm happy to see the sons of Feanor (and Nerdanel, who as she rightly points out, did the hard work) make their appearance!

The pieces are being placed on the board now, ready for the game to begin...

I absolutely agree with Nerdanel's logic in the naming of twins!

It's such a simple solution. Can't tell them apart? Give them both the same name, and you won't have to!

I'm sure there's no flaw in that logic...

What a big, happy family! It's all picnics and pantomimes from here on out, right?

Of course! Fëanor's sons all love their dad. :)
