The History of Middle-earth (chibi version) - Part 153 - Seeing the light(s)

1st September 2014 (19:58)

So as you might have guessed, I kind of ran out of pre-prepared cartoons after reaching the creation of the Silmarils, hence no posts last week. But I've managed to put one together at least:

Part 153: Seeing the light(s)

Next time: Part 154: Holy, holy, holy

Chibis by tektek.org
Original story by and copyright to J R R Tolkien, ed. C Tolkien: Primarily based on the Silmarillion, but incorporating ideas from the 12-volume History of Middle Earth series.
Questions and comments welcome!

Shiny . . .

I had to laugh at Melkor sulking in the corner. And I like Feanor's characteristic arrogance here. The rays of light coming off Feanor's head look vaguely like a nuclear radioactivity warning symbol, which, given Feanor, is not entirely inappropriate . . .

I'd not thought of the nuclear sign connection; well spotted! Though given that the Silmarils are brighter than the Sun and hold the energy of Creation locked within them, it's not inappropriate...

(That's why Varda is so nervous of them.)
