The History of Middle-earth (chibi version) - Part 236 - To the rescue

10th September 2015 (11:06)

This is the second cartoon to be posted in September, in case anyone missed the first.

Chibi spotters guide: today's cartoon features Fëanor, Celegorm, Maglor, five assorted Lindar, Galadriel, Finrod and Fingon. Finrod and Galadriel are big brother and little sister; Fingon is their cousin.

Tolkien wrote several alternative versions of what (if anything) Galadriel did during the Kinslaying at Alqualondë, some of them mutually contradictory. What i'm planning to do is reconcile these as best I can, with some details of my own added to make sense of her later characterisation and story.

Part 236 To the rescue

Next time: Part 237: Difference of opinion

Chibis by the now-dead website formerly known as tektek.org
Original story by and copyright to J R R Tolkien, ed. C Tolkien: Primarily based on the Silmarillion, but incorporating ideas from the 12-volume History of Middle Earth series.

Galadriel, still too young to know that the Valar wouldn't have to order anyone to stop you. They would just.... stop you.

I don't know, the Valar seem to have mostly given up on the "throw mountains at your enemy" style of warfare, maybe because it would destroy their own home. They're more into 'inspiring and guiding' incarnates* now.

* I keep wanting to write 'mortals' but that doesn't apply to elves, so 'incarnates' it has to be.
