The History of Middle-earth (chibi version) - Part 238 - First blood

17th September 2015 (22:48)

For best effect, read these cartoons in a darkened room lit by flickering torches, with the sounds of screams and yells of pain and metal clashing on metal all around you, and the smell of blood and salt water in your nostrils.

So, today's events aren't precisely canon, but I wanted to reconcile three things:

  • Galadriel in later years feels guilty over her deeds at Alqualondë.

  • She and Finrod are said to have defended the Teleri against the Noldor during the Kinslaying.

  • Nevertheless, the two of them were allowed to accompany the Noldor on their continuing journey, and even took leadership roles — which seems unlikely if they were fighting on the opposite side!

Next time: Part 239: Perfumes of Araby

Galadriel was allowed into Doriath, unlike the other Noldor, and she was offered the chance to return to Eldamar after the War of Wrath... so she must not have left any Noldor witnesses. Except Finrod, but he was family so he was bound to silence by the code of Omerta.

Galadriel needs to get herself a chakram.

Well, all of Eärwen's children were allowed into Doriath, not just her. But she refused to tell Melian about Alqualondë: it was Angrod who blabbed.

And was killed shortly afterwards. :)
