Happy new year to everybody in the GMT timezone!

(People in Australia can now yawn and say "Yeah, yeah, old news". :-)

I hadn't even noticed. Thanks for that.

(My other immediate response being, "Someone else is up?")

It's only midnight! (Well, it's now 1.43 am as I write this, so yeah) and it's eight o'clock in the evening of New Year's Eve where you are...

Happy New Year!

Not in your time zone, three hours off midnight, but I'm really enjoying reading all the new year wishes. I'll probably toddle off to bed before twelve, but I wish you all the best--even if it's old hat now. ;-))

Re: Happy New Year!

Well, it is old hat now because it's lunchtime... but thanks anyway.

Happy new year to you too!

Old news. :P

(Mind you, I didn't bother wishing LJ a happy new year - because it wouldn't be 2010 for anyone but me yet - so I guess it's kinda not old news...)

Presumably by the time you read this reply it won't even be New Year's Day any more, it'll be tomorrow. Time zones are weird.

Merci!

(How do you say "Same to you" in French? "La même chose à toi" would presumably be the literal translation, but I don't know if ther's a more idiomatic expression?)

That's correct. One could say too: "De même pour toi."
